Reliquaire de la Sainte Croix [RELIQUAIRE de la STE CROIX]. Relic of the Holy Cross in a silver Christ, accompanied by relics of saints, in a gilded frame. Silver Christ cross hallmarked with two conjoined heads. This hallmark was used by Belgium from August 18, 1831 to January 1, 1868 to mark silver articles of national manufacture grading 800 thousandths (second title). The cross (27 x 13) bearing a medallion with a relic of the Holy Cross on a black velvet background, in a richly decorated gilded frame (61 x 49), also housing 22 other relics, in 7 medallions. The frame (66 x 53.5) is protected by an antique glass case. Access to the reliquary boxes (bearing red wax seals of Ghent bishops) is via a removable wall. The frame itself is hinged. 8 authentic documents from the Patriarch of Antioch Antonius Piatti, and bishops of Ghent, dated Ghent, dated 1837 to 1840, relating to the relics contained in the frame (Holy Cross, St. Paul the Apostle Vincent de Paul, St. Francis of Paola, St. Francisci Salerri, St. Bernard, St. Augustine Augustin, st Gisleni, sancta Coleta). Piece in excellent condition.
